About the Author

A native of Australia, Geoff Mills moved to the USA in 1986 to undertake doctoral studies at the University of Oregon. After completing his PhD in 1988, Geoff accepted his first teaching position at Southern Oregon State College (now Southern Oregon University). After 12 years of teaching, Geoff moved in to university administration where he served as Dean and Professor of Education in the School of Education at Southern Oregon University. Most recently, Geoff has returned to the faculty in the School of Education as a professor of education.�

Geoff has traveled extensively and given invited action research presentations in Australia, New Zealand, Greenland, United Kingdom, Canada, and many states in the United States. In addition to Action Research: A Guide for the Teacher Researcher, 5e, Geoff is also the active author of Educational Research: Competencies for Analysis and Applications (2012; with L. R. Gay and P. Airasian), now in its 10th edition.

Do not waste money on this option

What it is: Internet access only textbook (meaning you cannot read it offline). Also, it can only be used for 180 days (which really makes it a rental even though that is not indicated on this purchase). Once logged in, the e-textbook is very difficult to navigate. It is too cumbersome if you are used to a hard copy textbook. Do not waste money on this option.

Book content is fine - but the delivery method is ridiculous!

I have no complaints about the book itself but about the format and related issues.

I have purchased text books for my kindle previously and really enjoyed having them in such a format. I also shop frequently on Amazon purchasing a variety of items.

That said, I was shocked when, as another reviewer stated, a thin envelope arrived with basically a passcode for TEMPORARY access to the book. Another reason I thought I was getting a hard copy book - why do they need to ship a piece of paper with an access code? They could have instantly emailed me all the information I needed. Thank God I didn't pay shipping for this garbage!

I thought this was the book with an access card to additional online content (I now see the ad explicitly states it is an etextbook but I am certain when I purchased this item it did NOT state as such). The tiny pamphlet I received in the mail states it can be downloaded and that a "low-cost printer version" can be purchased if you already paid for the e-text. You cannot download the book on a computer - only a tablet. I am not as familiar with Kindle fire's operating system but it does not appear I can download it on my "old school" kindle touch at all. In addition, I note to get the "print" version - you have to pay $68+ dollars. But it isn't even in a bound book - it is printed and placed in a three-ring binder. That is not a low cost print version! Also, when I use the "in-app" purchase to purchase a print version, it says I can only buy this three ring binder print version with an access card that I already have. What a joke!!

I could let go of not being able to download and the temporary access and not having it on my kindle - but the worst part of the book is the interface Pearson uses. It is slow, shotty (the highlighting is worse than if the document was a pdf) and just plain irritating.

I work in an office with PCs all day and various software; I am a gamer and electronic enthusiast - I have multiple PCs, tablets (android & windows), game systems, etc. - and I am flat out disgusted with the website and interface. It is worse than Adobe 10 years ago. I cannot believe I paid for temporary access to such a pile of garbage. Yes, I can "see" and read the book, but that is about all.

The publisher (and to a certain extent, the author) should be ashamed. This is ridiculous!

Needs to be clear about being an ebook

As I purchasing this book, using the ISBN that my college required, I was happy to find it on Amazon. The book, however, was not was I was expecting. When it arrived, it came in a large thin envelope, looking nothing like a book. Turns out it was an ebook. I absolutely hate ebooks and would have never purchased this if the heading said ebook. It does have this knowledge within the description, however I would suggest placing the fact that it is an ebook in the heading so students know what they are purchasing right away.
Also, this is the 4th textbook I have purchased off of Amazon. I have had to return all of the because it was not the correct book. I've decided Amazon will no longer by my shopping place for textbooks....I should have learned before!
